Volunteering at RDAP
The Rape/Domestic Abuse Program is always looking for volunteer help. To get more information on volunteer opportunities or training classes, please contact the RDAP office at 308-532-0624.
There are five volunteer ‘Teams’ that help the program in various ways.
CRISIS LINE TEAM
The crisis line team is responsible for responding to RDAP Crisis Line for an assigned shift and providing crisis intervention and referrals to callers affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Volunteers cover a 12-hour shift and have the flexibility to chose the dates/times that work best for you.
Crisis line teams require a 6 week training class, hosted by RDAP, prior to taking calls. Please call the office at 308-532-0624 to see when the next class begins and to get enrolled.
SHELTER TEAM
The Shelter Team is responsible for assisting RDAP shelter manager with maintaining a safe, clean facility. Rooms are cleaned following the exit of a client. Bed linens are washed, beds remade and overall cleaning of room. This would be on an on-call basis.
DONATION TEAM
The donation team is responsible for sorting all donations, organizing storage area and replenishing products. Shifts would be assigned for weekdays only at the RDAP shelter.
OFFICE TEAM
The Office Team is responsible for assistance in the RDAP. Making copies, collating, cleaning answering phone and other assistance to staff.
SPECIAL EVENTS TEAM
The Special Events Team is responsible for providing assistance with any special event at RDAP shelter only such as holidays and birthdays. Making holiday meal or birthday treat for shelter residents.
This Team would also be responsible for assisting staff with fundraising events. Duties would be assigned for preparation or assistance with the operation of the fundraiser.
The Special Events Team also includes taking part in outreach activities such as parades, fall festivals and county fairs, being present to distribute information about both programs and visit with people in our all of our counties when there is a local event.
All teams are set up on scheduled shifts. When a volunteer requests to join a team, they can sign up for the hours and days that work for them. Whether it is one day a month or one day a week, there is always a chance to help.
